Technical Hints & Tips: Cumulus Keyword Extraction

The usual way that $Keywords is set up is that you create your own keyword list which you can then drag records into - this means that keywords are consistent, spelled correctly etc. You can also have Cumulus automatically pick up keywords if already present in the metadata of the original asset.

To do this you must edit the Categories record field in Preferences -> Catalog Settings -> Record Fields. Double click the Categories record field to bring up the field properties. Then go to 'Add' under 'Also Link the Following Fields', choose the filter module you want to work with (PDF, JPG, etc.) and the 'Keywords' field within the module and link to $Keywords.

Cumulus will now add the keywords in the asset metadata to the $Keywords category list automatically.
