EtherShare / PCShare

HELIOS EtherShare and PCShare allow easy integration of powerful servers into Macintosh and Windows networks, along with true cross platform support. HELIOS provides extremely fast, reliable, feature-rich file and print services for a centralised UNIX server, such as Xserve, Linux or Solaris.

True cross platform connectivity is delivered by HELIOS, everywhere from single volumes providing file services for both Windows and Macintosh, single print queues used by both Mac and Windows....right through to a common administration tool that allows for administration of Mac and Windows workstations from a single dialogue box. HELIOS is well known for its reliability, performance, and ease-of-use.

EtherShare support for MacOSX and AFP 3.1 ensures full compatibility with Apple standards, including support of large files, long file names and server reconnect. TCP/IP Print Spooling via the EtherShare exclusive TCP/IP printer drivers prints many times faster than Mac OSPAP or LPR.

PCShare includes DHCP Server built-in, which allows automatic distribution of TCP/IP configurations to any Windows, Macintosh, or other devices connected to a server network port. With its DHCP backup server capability all DHCP/ BOOTP clients will continue to work if the main server fails. Authentication via LDAP, AD/PDC, NIS and local server users are fully supported.

WebShare UB+

Highest-Performance Server for Real Time Remote File Access
HELIOS WebShare enables fast and secure real time file access via any Web browser. Now authorised users can easily use your file server wherever they are, without exposing the server to the Internet. Working with files remotely has never been easier.

Easy remote file access by customers, suppliers, business partners or employees will eliminate the need to make files available via e-mail, burning CDs, or FTP, which often cause compatibility problems and occupy resources. Automatic e-mail notification allows monitoring when files are being accessed. The easy-to-use Web interface means no user training is required.

ImageServer UB+

HELIOS ImageServer is a server-based automated image conversion, color transformation and OPI image replacement solution. It supports all major image formats and color spaces as well as XMP, EXIF, clipping path and ICC meta data. Imaging tasks can be automated via 'hot folders' and OPI image replacement. It is designed to shift very CPU-intensive image processing tasks from desktops to servers.

ImageServer includes inbuilt colour separation and management, supports the widest range of file formats and colour spaces and includes an engine for sophisticated resampling of images - making ImageServer of key importance to the prepress, advertising, digital libraries, web based, medical, educational and creative media marketplaces.

OPI benefits: automatically creates a low-res image of all supported file formats for placement in any layout application. It replaces layout images on-the-fly with optimised high-res images during output. Conversion of different colors and resolutions is automatically done without additional copies of the high-res image. Color Separation and Management benefits: Using ColorSync/ICC profiles, ImageServer can keep the original high-res images in RGB, Lab, or CMYK colorspace on the server and repurpose them for different conversion and printing needs. ICC profiles are applied on-the-fly for excellent image conversion, colormatched proofs and composite or sepa-rated printing. HELIOS ImageServer implements device-independent colour management (including DeviceN support - see What does DeviceN mean for Prepress Customers), meaning you retain the original graphic in the best/most practical colour mode for your inhouse purposes and allow ImageServer to convert and optimise the graphics automatically at time of output.
Web Preview generation with customisable x/y pixel resolution of images or XPress/InDesign pages are supported. Images with a clipping path can be converted to transparent PNGs.
Image Conversion: ImageServer can convert images to any supported file format, resolution, compression and color space. ICC profiles can be applied and/or tagged. All image information can be retrieved. ICC/XMP/Path metadata can be imported and exported. Image resolution and sizes can be changed in existing files. ImageServer tools can easily be integrated into custom solutions or automated by 'hot folder' scripts.

PDF HandShake UB+

HELIOS PDF HandShake fully utilises the benefits of PDF in existing production environments. Automated server-based PDF generation, PDF printing, PDF OPI, PDF preflight and batchtools boost productivity, and overcome today's PDF problems. PDF HandShake adds complete PDF support to the HELIOS product suite.

Create PDF Server - is a highly automated server-based PDF creation solution. Macintosh, Windows and UNIX clients can print to a Create PDF printer queue which automatically creates PDF documents of any PostScript print job.

Smart ICC Color Management - can color match every object within a PDF. Properly converts PDF to CMYK. Text and vector colors in RGB/CMYK/Labgray, grayscale and black are detected and will be converted into black only. Perfect to color-normalise PDFs.

PDF Printing - offers correct separations and composite PDF printing on any PostScript output device. PDF HandShake capabilities include printing registration marks, custom page sizes, printing always with correct fonts, conversion of embedded TrueType and CID fonts to Type 1, and more. PDFHandShake is the perfect printing solution for any PDF document.
PDF Preflight is included via Callas' pdfinspektor (3rd party add-on) integrated in the the Create PDF printer queue and via 'hot folders'.

Support for PDF in an OPI and Impositioning environment - users can place EPS low-res files, which are automatically created from PDF high-res documents. During printout, the low-res files will be replaced with the PDF high-res data and printed correctly using the PDF HandShake printing technology. Printing to a Create PDF queue produces high-res or low-res PDF of all OPI print jobs. PDF with OPI references is fully supported and printing to an OPI queue replaces all OPI references.
PDF Internet Printing - inbuilt to the HELIOS print spool system PDF Internet Printing allows for either customers to deliver print jobs for output via the internet or for remote control or output devices from a central location. Complete with job logging, email notification and job description, PDF Internet Printing is ideal for high throughput businesses such as copy shops or print bureaus.

PrintPreview UB+

HELIOS PrintPreview UB+ generates accurate color-matched proofs of Post-Script and PDF[1] print jobs. Files are rendered as bitmapped pages in a PDF file. Ideal for pre-flighting, local and remote proofs throughout the production cycle, and as a final job check prior to printing.

Requires PCShare, EtherShare or WebShare to receive print jobs from clients. PDF HandShake adds PDF support.

ScriptServer UB+

Server-Based Hot Folder Automation: Hot folder automation provided by Script Server integrates and automates server applications. Any sort of scriptable task or procedure can be initiated simply by saving files to a server hot folder. Even an entire server volume can be designated as a hot folder. This works completely automatically behind the scenes.

ToolServer UB+

Tool Server allows applications running on network clients to be automated and remotely used by the HELIOS server. Many applications and technologies are only available on a specific platform. Tool Server makes these required applications and technologies available to your HELIOS server, as a standalone process, or for integration into server workflows.

HELIOS Base is the innovative foundation used by all HELIOS UB+ products. HELIOS Base incorporates the advanced server technologies developed by HELIOS over many years. These core HELIOS technologies include service controller, printing system, authentication server, remote administration, networking and imaging libraries, toold and more. HELIOS Base provides the foundation for all HELIOS products.
