DynaStrip Q&A

DynaStrip - for handling more jobs and improving service levels.

The following Questions and Answers have been put together by the Dynagram team for you to see the benefits of using DynaStrip.

Q: What will I save using DynaStrip?
A: DynaStrip has been created to help printers maximise their operations. By using DynaStrip, you cut cost in consumables, person hours, downtimes while maximising turnaround times and print quality.

Q: What is the difference between DynaStrip and other 4-up solutions?
A: DynaStrip grows with your print operation. While 4-up solutions are obsolete when your business expands for larger print jobs, with DynaStrip you can easily increase to a plate size without having to switch product.

Q: I don't impose enough to buy a software.
A: DynaStrip is not about how much you impose now. DynaStrip is all about business potential. With our solutions repetitive tasks are long gone, botched impositions are avoided, turnaround times decreased and output quality enhanced. By streamlining your print production capacity, jobs are delivered on time, within budget and to the expectations of your customers.

Q: I only impose QuarkXPress, I don't need DynaStrip.
A: DynaStrip is a stand alone solution, which eliminates the hassle of font issues and missing images. Plus you will be freed from the burden of having to upgrade every time QuarkXPress brings out a new version. DynaStrip affords the flexibility in the long term if your prepress department embarks in a different technological orientation than just QuarkXPress. In other words, you are investing not just in the short term but in the future as well.

Q: Thanks, but I have imposition tools integrated in my software.
A: Then you are probably already aware that these tools are really basic and limited to simple imposition jobs. Like many, you are probably faced with complex imposition or challenging customer specificities. The tools you are currently using cannot address your production challenges or, if they do, will undermine your efforts to deliver your customers' jobs well done - that means: on time, within budget and with the utmost quality.

Q: DynaStrip is too expensive.
A: How much would you be willing to invest in a solution that could prevent thousands of dollars lost because of a botched imposition job? Imagine the cost- and time-savings if you could ensure that when a job is imposed, it is outputted correctly the first time. No more wasted consumables, equipment standing idle while your prepress and postpress departments are correcting the aftermaths of a faulty imposed job.

Q: What is you main advantage when compared to PREPS?
A: DynaStrip is indeed very comparable to PREPS in the sense that both offer high-end imposition features. However, DynaStrip boasts the following capabilities that outshine PREPS:
- Short learning curve
- Modify jobs on the fly - no need to save and grapple with loads of templates
- Ganging of jobs
- Tiling on plate setups.

Q: Can you store templates on server with DynaStrip?
A: Yes, easily. You can store imported marks and job templates on your server.

Q: What type of objects can be imported in DynaStrip?
A: Custom color bars, custom register marks, templates, linear marks, and many other objects can be imported into DynaStrip.

Q: What about packaging, will DynaStrip help?
A: We are able to do nesting when files are able to support transparencies.

Q: Can you import PREPS templates? If so, is it a strenuous process?
A: Yes we can. All static marks can be imported in DynaStrip in the recently released version 4.4. Note the process is easy and takes only a few steps to accomplish.

Q: Can DynaStrip deal with variable data?
A: DynaStrip can meet the needs of direct marketers with its versioning capabilities that allow you to create several versions of the same document for output. This is especially beneficial for multilingual or geographically diverse documents. Variable data per se, is addressed by variable data solutions.

Q: I'd like to setup hot folder, can DynaStrip help?
A: Yes, you can configure up to 10 different hot folders that can be linked to 10 different plate setups.

Q: Why would I choose DynaStrip Compact vs INposition Xtension?
A: INposition is an XTension specifically for simple imposition in QuarkXPress. DynaStrip Compact has been developed for all advanced features, such as tumble, rotation of plates, ganging jobs with several documents lists.

Q: Can A4 be used under DynaStrip?
A: Yes. As of version 4.4, DynaStrip will accept this format.

Q: Is your software multi-platform?
A: DynaStrip operates on Macintosh and Windows platforms, using USB dongles. The dongles themselves, however, are not multi-platform.

Q: Can you upgrade from a DynaStrip Compact to a Full size?
A: Yes. Additional costs required.

Q: Can I impose PostScript and PDF at the same time?
A: In a high-end market, jobs are pre-RIPped, so there is no need for mixing different file formats.
