Comparison of DynaStrip Vs Preps

DynaStrip - for handling more jobs and improving service levels.

Why is DynaStrip better than Preps?

DynaStrip's light table offers many advantages over Preps for a precise page positioning on the layout.

Template creation and maintenance are kept to a minimum with DynaStrip whereas Preps template management is a major issue to overcome. Preps is limited with respect to template management as it only has one level of template. This means that the user has to create a new template every time something changes: mark, mark placement, bottling, sheet size, folding template... Due to this, many Preps users have thousands of templates and as such many of them just create new templates for every job. Obviously this is very labor intensive. The possibility of DynaStrip to have templates for many elements is a huge advantage as it allows users to create most jobs with the templates they have created.

Ganging of jobs and tiling on plate setups is far easier and completely implemented in DynaStrip.

The placement and movement of pages in DynaStrip is easier thanks to the relative positioning of pages to other elements and the multiple anchor points.

The possibility to move/rotate the page but leave the page marks is also a feature that is more difficult to apply in Preps.

Different bleed values can be set on the front and the back of a page.

DynaStrip also has the ability to prevent the automatic creep adjustment for particular pages (example: crossover image).

Support for job based shingling is far better in DynaStrip as it's possible to define shingling based on paper thickness and different shingling values can be given to different pagination sequences. This means that if a signature is printed on a paper that has a different thickness, the automatic creep adjustment can be done independently for this signature only.

Finally, the position of the fold mark can not be driven by a script but DynaStrip offers the possibility to use bottling and fanning templates which isn't possible in Preps. Especially in the case of bottling, this results in substantial time savings compared to working in Preps.
